The east organ has unique carvings

Milton's head Speed's tools let the pealing organ blow

Outer tower right:

St. Cecilia, patron saint of music, on the rightA metronome, to represent the organ's use as a teaching instrument through the work of St. Giles International Organ School, based at this church. 

Outer tower left:

Milton on the left, with his monogram beneath. On his right a text from Milton’s Paradise Lost ‘Let the pealing organ blow’ To celebrate Milton, whose bones lie under St. Giles, and who was born 400 years before this organ was installed. 

Centre tower

Left: a Griffin, and Right: a Hind, pierced by arrow To celebrate the installation of this organ in a church dedicated to St. Giles (hind) within the City of London (griffin)

A lyreThe theme from J.S. Bach fugue ‘St. Anne’ (chosen by Anne Marsden Thomas) In anticipation of the wonderful music to be made on this organ

Braille (the theme from the ‘St. Anne’ fugue, again),Labrador with harness, In honour of the visually impaired organists who study organ at the Organ School.  We expect to develop our work in teaching visually and physically impaired organists as this organ has a range of unique disabled-friendly features.

Violin and recorder, To represent the organ’s role in consort music, as it is situated adjacent to our large chancel, frequently used by orchestras and choirs.
