| Facilities The Church has extremely good acoustics, and a Steinway 'B' piano and three organs are available for hire. The church is very light and spacious with a warm temperature throughout the winter. There is space for 120 in the main nave area in pews, 30 pews in the side aisles, and 100 chairs on the side aisles. The Church is available for daytime and evening hire 7 days a week. We have wheelchair access and two toilets with limited use are available. Location Being in a central London location, the church is well-served for public transport (nearest tube Moorgate (Northern, Circle and Hammersmith and City lines) and St Paul's (Central line). It is opposite the barbican Centre surrounded by a spacious lakeside plaza. Thousands of tourists and office workers and residents are in the immediate vicinity. Parking facilities are limited. There are no traffic noises. Fees and contract. If you would like to check on dates and know more about the facilities, you will find contractual information about hiring and you could send it in to us. You should also look at pages on Fire precautions, and fire risk assessment. As fees are liable to change, do contract the administrator if you are interested. |
The organs
We have two superb pipe organs available for music-making in the church. The 3 manual, 41 stop, west gallery organ is a well-maintained, splendid instrument. It has mechanical action, a concave/radiating pedal board and a full range of registration aids. If you need the organ for accompanying, please note that there is a time-lag between the west and east ends of the church. For accompanying musicians on our large chancel we recommend our new 2 manual, 15 stop organ. It has suspended mechanical action, a straight/concave pedalboard, and a balanced Swell pedal, plus a full range of registration aids. It also boasts various aids for the visually impaired. This instrument sits adjacent to the chancel and offers extraordinary versatility despite its small specification - suitable for continuo work or a full bodied sound which fills the church.
The organs are only available by prior arrangement. If you require the organs to be specially tuned, please ask for a quotation. For more information about the organs you are welcome to email the Director of Music, Anne Marsden Thomas, AMT@organschool.com.
